What were your favorite CDs this year? This is a list of my Top Albums for 2004 )not necessarily in order) :

1. Big & Rich, Horse of a Different Color (Warner)
It ranges from upbeat songs, like Save a horse (Ride a Cowboy), to slower, more traditional country songs, like Holy water and Live this life. Its wide range of music makes it good for any mood, and will surprise those that don't particularly care for country music.

2. Madvillain, Madvillainy (Stones Throw)
What happens when underground rap's greatest producer (Madlib) teams up with its funniest, most ingenious wordsmith (MF Doom)? The answer: Madvillainy, an instant-classic meeting of the super-brains that feels as fresh on the 50th listen as it does on the first.

Another "Sopranos" heads to "Law & Order"

Count Lorraine Bracco among the stars of The Sopranos who have now signed to do appearances on the TV drama Law & Order.

Soprano relative Michael Imperioli (Christopher) is appearing in the final four episodes of Law & Order this season, while Robert Iler (Anothony Jr.) was on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit last year.

, Edie Falco (Carmela Soprano) played a defense lawyer on Law & Order beforing starring in The Sopranos and Oz.

Meanwhile, Sopranos fan have to wait until January for the long-awaited Season 6.

That's -- January 2006, not 2005. A very long wait . . .

Fake Engagement Ring works fine as Dork Repellent

"We've tried dirty looks, haughty sighs and angry tirades to get rid of these predators - but nothing works like the magic ring."

This isn't a new trend. Women have been doing this for decades : buying their own $10 fake diamond engagement ring - as a verbal sign to undesirable males that they are already spoken for. Nothing says "Boo!" to a guy than a girl on the (apparent) fast-track to the altar.

, The New York Post recently reported that these faux rocks are the accessories of the season for fashionable ladies who just want to be left alone. "They drop $10 on a gaudy stone, apply to left ring finger and watch as one-time pursuers fade into the background." the post said.

One woman told the Post that she no longer has any trouble walking past leering/howling construction workers. When the guys stop shoveling dirt and start shoveling lines, she just flashes her ring and the curtain falls.

Of course, this raises the question: Why don't these women wear wedding bands? But I guess if you're going for the fake-out, you might as well do it with the style that only a diamond can bring.

Amazing Race 6: Slurs, Insults and Shoves

Ahhh!!! This is what reality TV is all about: Jonathan screams at his wife (as usual), but shocks viewers by shoving and berating her at the pit stop; Kendra gave us more insults of Africa ("This city is wretched and disgusting, and they just keep breeding and breeding . . . it's disgusting"); and Hayden accuses Bolo of being on steroids. (Bolo: "Who me? I'm not on steroids?" as his bulging arms knock over Hayden)

Next Stage Father To Ruin A Kid's Career is . . .

Joe Simpson. The father/manager of daughters Jessica and Ashlee Simpson, doesn't shy way from blowing about how great his daughters are going to be.

Simpson gushed about Jessica's pair of DD's ("You can't cover those suckers up!"), then says he nixed the Lesbian aspect of the part Ashlee will play in an upcoming movie, "Wannabe." The former minister also claims Ashlee will be "a huge movie star." Adding, "She's like Meg Ryan or Cameron Diaz, with probably more depth. When we're done, she'll play it all." Read the story

Camera Guy, You'll Never Work in this Town Again

A disgruntled cameraman ambushed actor BILL Murray at a VIP screening of "The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou" during a question and answer session in Hollywood with director Wes Anderson, Anjelica Huston, and Willem Dafoe.

The man announced, "I am a cameraman, and I've worked with all the actors onstage. Bill:you are a bastard. You are horrible to work with."

And the cameraman probably won't be working with any other actors, after this career-ending move . . .

Sometimes a "bullet-proof" vest isn't a bullet-proof vest.

In Idaho, a 30-year-old man (which should have known better) has been charged with involuntary manslaughter for fatally shooting his 20-year-old friend through a protective vest which they thought meant "bullet proof" but was actually designed to protect the wearer against grenade fragments.

Eastwood boyfriend found dead at Vail

Michael Combs, 42, the boyfriend of actress and model Alison Eastwood was found dead just off a run at Vail Ski Resort in Colorado. Eastwood is the daughter of actor/director Clint Eastwood.

, Combs was reported missing late Monday afternoon after he failed to meet Alison at the ski area base. His body was found at 1 pm on Tuesday in an area of thick trees off the beginner trail Riva Catwalk near the Golden Peak base. There was no sign of trauma and an autopsy will be performed.

Alison Eastwood starred in "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" and was a one-time Playboy model.

Derek Jeter still rounding the bases . . .

Movie star Scarlett Johannson has fueled speculation she's dating baseball star, Derek Jeter, by leaving a recent Christmas party with him.

The Lost In Translation actress and the New York Yankees hunk allegedly arrived at last week's festive bash for computer giant Microsoft at Los Angeles' Geisha House restaurant together and spent the entire night together.

, Jeter has a decided taste for actresses though. In the past few years, he's been linked to Mariah Carey, Jordana Brewster, and Jessica Alba as dating partners.

It's also clear that some actresses also have a thing for athletes. Recently, Tara Reid ("American Pie," "Van Wilder") is dating hockey star Sergei Fedorov (of he-might-have-been-married-to Anna Kournikova fame).
